REBUILD-Means for Earning Equipment Distributed to 30 Covid-19 hit Slum Families

Means for Earning Equipment (for creating livelihood opportunities) Distributed to 30 Covid-19 hit Slum Families by Honourable MLA Sri.Arikepudi Gandhi at Yellammabanda Slum, Hyderabad:

CHORD has been laying immense focus on immediate alternate sources of livelihood for the Covid-19 hit slum community members as it is also the felt need of the victims who have lost livelihoods during the Lockdown period.As part of the REBUILD sustenance planning, CHORD proposed to distribute means for earning (MFE) tools such as Sewing machines, Ironing boxes and push carts(Street Vending Carts) for immediate livelihoods generation.

This has come to fruition with help from Microsoft this morning as we have distributed 10 Sewing Machines, 10 Iron Boxes, 10 Street vending Cots and 3 Wheel chairs along with Immediate One month Dry Ration Relief to 33 families as a pilot through the hands of our Honourable MLA Sri. Arekapudi Gandhi garu.

The distribution ceremony was held a t NTR Nagar Yellammabanda, Hyderabad. Speaking on the occasion our Chief Guest Mr.Arekapudi Gandhi (MLA, at Serilingampally) commended the wonderful initiative undertaken by CHORD and urged the recipients to avail this opportunity and make a living for themselves. The meeting was also attended by Mr.D.Venkatesh (Corporator at Yellammabanda), Mr. U. Srikanth (Corporator at Miyapur).The leaders have appreciated the painstaking community development activities initiated by CHORD in positively impacting the lives of the marginalized communities in Yellammabanda over the years.

Mr. Suman Malladi (Founder of CHORD) had narrated the vision and activities of CHORD in training over thousand women in skills and educating 600 drop out children the last seven years in Yellammabanda Surroundings. Responding to CHORD’s long standing need Sri.Arikepudi Gandhi garu had spontaneously offered to alienate Government land to CHORD for building a Permanent school and a Community development centre. Mrs.Manjulatha Malladi,Director at CHORD has thanked the generosity of Microsoft and the Magnanimous promise of our Honourable MLA in coming to the rescue of the marginalized communities.
In addition 70 School children have also received one month Ration as Covid-19 relief. Mr.Miraiah Project in charge of Yellammabanda had made all the arrangement with help from all CHORD team members.

On the whole it’s been a purposeful and heart-warming day for all the victorious beneficiaries and for all of us at CHORD and Microsoft.
