English Access Microscholarship Program India
English language training for the Non–elite (Disadvantaged Children)
English Access Microscholarship Program India is a communicative English language training program where children between the ages of 13 – 20, from non-elite backgrounds, are given the opportunity fora comprehensive study of the English language. The Program also focuses on personality development, besides imparting communicative English.
This is done by dividing the students into groups of 25 and conducting after school sessions for them thrice a week.
This program is funded by the US. Government and supervised by the Regional English Language Office of the U.S. Embassy and by the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate General Hyderabad. And CHORD is the implementing partner for this program
Objectives of English ACCESS MicroScholarship Program India
The main objective of the English Access Microscholarship Program India is to empower students from non-English speaking countries by teaching them professional skills, social skills, and leadership.
The English Access Microscholarship program India develops social awareness among students living in the country to identify the problems and learn about different solutions for these problems.
Even though English is a bit difficult for non-English country students, English Access Program Microscholarship India uses different learning methods to make the English Language a part of their lives.
The English Access Microscholarship Program imparts basic Language skills to school students from economically poor backgrounds, between the age of 13 to 20.
The English Language skills learned in the English Access Microscholarship program equip students with English skills that help them to get better higher education and better jobs. Students also learn how to compete for and participate in future exchanges and study in the United States of America.
So far CHORD has trained 225 Children under this program in two sessions from 2012-2016
CHORD has been awarded yet another ACCESS Program FY 2020-2022 by the US Department of state (American Embassy) which was launched in October 2020.
